The Board is the highest policy making body responsible for the administration of the Fund. Chaired by a renowned Professor of Education and gender activist, Prof. Hauwa Abdu Biu and three members, each representing a Senatorial District (Borno North, Borno Central and Borno South). The Board also consist of ex-officio members representing the following MDAs:
The function of the Board according to the establishment Act include, among other things, to: Monitor and ensure collection of remittance of Education levy by the Borno State Internal Revenue Service to the fund; Manage and disburse the levy imposed by the law. Receive, request and approve admittable projects after due consideration. Ensure disbursement of funds to various schools and educational institutions in the state; Monitor and evaluate execution of projects and other interventions. Invest funds in appropriate and safe securities subject to approval by the Governor. Review progress and suggest improvements; Make and issue periodic guidelines or regulations to all beneficiaries on disbursement from the fund on the use of monies received from it; Generally regulate the administration, application and disbursement of monies of the Fund. Do other things as are necessary or incidental for the effective discharge of its duties.
